The annual variety show happened last night. My husband was entertaining. He was a busy, busy man this week. Between getting all this organized and helping me out (I sprained my ankle this week), he was a man on the go. Last year, they started the tradition of handing out balloons to all the young audience members. Our children are always excited for this night. They were all in the car waiting for us to leave. I don't think we've ever had that happen before. Usually we are asking them to pick something up or get their shoes on or brush their teeth...They will remember a fun night seeing daddy on stage, Blake will remember the blood, sweat and tears, and I will always remember all four of my children in the car, ready to go.

Sibling Harmony
I love this picture. I wish I could say this is what it's like in our house all the time but sadly it's not. I'm glad I captured this moment forever. The only thing that would make this better is if there was a Bible in their lap.

Eye
We went to the Optometrist two days in a row. One was planned, the other was not. Jacie is fine, she doesn't need glasses like she thought. Carter is fine, after a drinking straw lacerated his eye he is lucky that he only has to use antibiotic drops to prevent infections.

Birthday
Avery turned 5 on Sunday. We had a party for her on Monday. I had a lot of fun planning for the party. The theme kind of happened by accident. Tradition allows them to pick a birthday cake. She picked flip flops and away we went. I just happened upon flip flop streamers and then a craft to decorate flip flops so a theme was born. We even got a helium tank to fill the balloons. We had a lot of fun. It's been quite the year for birthdays in this house.

Laughing
I can't remember what the girls said they were laughing about but as you can see by this picture, they were enjoying themselves.

K-9
We got to see K-9 trials this weekend. My cousin has been a K-9 policeman for 4 years but we have never been able to see this so we were really excited to watch. It happened all day so we were only able to catch a glimpse of the competition. We got to see his dog search for a person in a box (to catch his scent). He did a great job! The kids loved watching it and him.

Ladybug
I guess when things are macro, everything is, including the dust. This was inside the "White Shadow."

Only a Boy Named Carter
There's an old Sunday school song called "Only a Boy Named David." It's a catchy little song about one of David's most famous acts, when he slew the giant. Sometimes I think Carter could rival him in the rock-throwing skill. He doesn't levitate the rock "round and round" in a sling above his head but he does like to throw them. Sometime I should just get a chair, plant myself with a good book and test the longevity of this sport. I think he could go for quite a while.

Spring
It is absolutely the most beautiful time of the year to live around here. The blossoms are out everywhere. There are beautiful clouds in the sky. The heat is not insufferable at this point. We love spring!

I didn't get a lot of time with Kim when she visited. We tried to make the most of it. I was able to stay in Newport with her one evening. It was nice to hang out and not have anything pulling at us, her work nor my children. She finally got to meet my children and see my home. We kept joking about how we actually had a gas station (what with living in Podunk). Thanks sooo much to my loving and generous husband for allowing such things to take place. I came home to a very clean and freshly painted room.

Friday Night Lights
This was what it was like the night before I left through the snow. It was worth all the weather to get to Newport. Though it was unusually cold there too, it was a beautiful hotel and quality time with my friend.

Bunny
We saw this guy (or gal) on our walk yesterday. Actually, we saw two of them. They were hanging around together.

Kenny-Cat
Kenny-Cat had a fun weekend. She got to spend the night at her friend's house. From there she and her friend went to a birthday party where they got to bounce around. Then that evening she and I went to buy her reward for not sucking her fingers for 2 weeks now. We had a lot of fun together on the ride to and from the store. She introduced me to a game called "Piggle." Piggle involves rhyming words together.
This picture was taken on our family "hike" today at a preserve. Our family had lots of fun walking around. We got to see a couple jack rabbits, livestock and lots of cow "plops" as Avery calls it.

Valentine's Lunch
The C-dawg and I brought lunch for the girls for Valentine's Day. Friday we had lunch with Avery. It's been a full week of being at school. We were also able to do lunch duty one day too. Carter liked playing soccer with a 1st grader and Avery had fun playing on the playground.

Heli
This is Blake's 3rd year of this fun class assignment. The students are suppose to write in the voice of their parents excusing them from handing in their homework on time. He grades their writing, the medium on which it's written and the delivery, among other things. It's always a fun time in our house for this assignment. Our kids are on the lookout all day for the shenanigans of Blake's students. Some of the things delivered this year, and in no particular order, were a tire, toilet seat, calf milk bottle, an animal of the feline persuasion (which we returned, much to the children's chagrin), and what you see pictured here, a backpack delivered by helicopter.
